Oxshott Juniors proudly displaying their new club shirts at Monday Junior Club Night!
The Oxshott Vets squash 1st team have started the new season at blistering pace and are currently sitting top of Division 1. There is still a long way to go in the season but this is one of the best starts.
Team membes John Gemmell, Peter Crossman, Stuart Hibbert and Andy Normile can be seen in the photo.
The squash section enjoyed a Karakal Demo evening on Monday 7 October. Members were given the opportunity to try out lots of different rackets and to get some expertise advice from Pete Cossey, the Karakal rep.
Every Monday evening the squash section holds a mix in session for members to play other members. The evening is run by the club’s squash pro, Peter Crossman.
Keen to support such a worthwhile cause, OVSC held a coffee morning on Friday 27th September as part of Macmillan’s World Biggest Coffee morning challenge. A fantastic array of cakes were very generously baked and donated by several OVSC members, and the morning was supported by both members of the Club and OVSC’s Principal Sponsor, Down’s Solicitors. Thanks to all who so kindly donated their time (and considerable baking skills!) which enabled us to raise over £350.
Congratulations to Dana Griffiths who won the Ladies End of Summer Tennis Drive for 2019.
28 ladies enjoyed a morning of tennis played on a beautiful sunny September day. Dana is now winner of both the winter and summer tennis drives. The tennis was followed by a lovely lunch in the clubhouse.
Thanks to Pat Williams and Fiona Windsor for once again running this popular event and Diana Joseph for organising the tennis matches.
A fun afternoon and evening was held on Saturday 14 September to celebrate the Club’s 100 years.
It was a beautiful sunny evening with 40 tennis members taking to court – some dressing up for the occasion. Players were split into teams named after tennis players from different eras. Matches followed a format based on trying to win as many points as possible and each person serving only got 1 serve, which proved interesting!
Ali Anderson’s team – “Virginia Wade” with Joan Mockford, Kasia Chapman and Karen Budd were victorious beating “Fred Perry’s” team by 3 points.
The tournament was followed by an evening BBQ and dancing to club members’ band, the aptly named “Racquet Abuse”!
Thanks to Kim and Susan Joseph who organised the event and to everyone who helped make it happen.
2019 Petanque Business League – Yet again CGI won the league for the 6th year in succession, winning the Business League Trophy, a restaurant meal and six bottles of wine!
