Now that the finals of the 2019-2020 competition have been played and all the trophy winners announced, it’s time to launch the 2020-2021 eighteenth annual Wallis Cup competition to start on October 26th.
The Wallis Cup is an annual handicapped mixed doubles competition running from autumn to spring whose main objectives are to encourage social play throughout the winter and to give new and existing members an opportunity to meet others in a friendly but gently competitive setting. The handicap format gives every pair an opportunity to score games. It consists of four stages – the round-robin stage, quarter-finals, semi-finals and finals. The dates for each are set in the Rules published at the start of the competition.
The Wallis Cup trophy is awarded to the winning pair and plates are awarded to the runners up, third place and the pair who have played the most matches that year. All are engraved with the pair’s names and displayed in the club’s trophy cabinet.
The competition is open to players of all standards and the organisers will help you find a partner if you don’t have one.
