Oxshott Bridge Club celebrate 25 Years!
The Oxshott Bridge club celebrated its Silver Anniversary today. The club’s first bridge session was held on 3 September 1998 and the club has continued to play on Thursdays ever since.
A lady called Sue Jackson, is an eminent local bridge teacher and she and Channy Sims were instrumental in setting up the club together with several very keen bridge students.
5 of the founder members are still playing today - Sylvia McDaniel, Maureen Goy, Blanche Shelley, Jo Dalal and Wendy Mundie.
The Bridge Club Constitution states that “the objective of the club is to play duplicate bridge in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere…” and retaining so many members over such a long period of time certainly demonstrates how well this objective is being achieved.
Edward Kurk, the current Chairman proposed a toast with champagne and cake - “To Oxshott Village Bridge Club’s first 25 years!”
