Perseverance Pays Off for Oxshott Vets Squash 1st Team

After 2 or 3 near misses over the last few years, the Oxshott Vets 1st Team finally reigned victorious in the Surrey 1st Division. 

The team made up of a core pool of 6 of Paul Reilly, Stuart Hibbert, James Shattock, John Gemmell, Peter Crossman and Julian Peak also got valuable help from Nicola Helwick and Nick Shepherd, during the 14-match season stretching from September to April. 

Stand out performances during the season were many but included Paul Reilly beating one of the RAC professionals and Peter Crossman coming back from 2-1 down to win 3-2 to clinch maximum points for the team in the last match of the season. 

Oxshott ended up winning by only 2 points from the RAC Vets, in what was the most competitive league in a number of years.
