Tennis AGM

The Tennis section held its AGM on Tuesday 22 November after 2 years of absence due to Covid.

Two long standing members of the committee who were standing down were thanked for all their hard work over their many years of service.

Denis Norgan, the secretary and bbq king was replaced by Kirsty Bentley.   Hopefully Denis might still be seen with bbq tongs at club events and with racket in hand on the court!

Ali Anderson, stood down as mens captain and is replaced by John Eady.  Ali, who has been mens captain for longer than anyone can remember will be concentrating on the continued development of the Padel section.  The mens team tennis has thrived under Ali’s guidance winning numerous leagues and trophies.   Hopefully he will also be enticed onto the tennis court for the occasional match!

2 “Chairman” awards were presented by Tennis Chairman Rod Stevens for the most improved players this year – Irina Hurst one the most improved lady and Zsolt Nagy most improved man.  Congratulations to both.

The AGM concluded with drinks and nibbles and a chance to mingle!

The achievements of the thriving Junior section of the club were recognised with awards being presented to a number of the juniors who have performed at the top level this year.  See separate news item.
