Maori Oxshott Cricket vs Oxshott Petanque

The Maori Oxshott Cricketers challenged the Petanque section to a petanque match on Sunday 9 October, following a couple of previous session where we paired a cricket member with a petanque member to introduce them to the sport. With 12 players in each team, 3 rounds of doubles were played, so a total of 18 games. Many of the games were very close, but in the end, despite a heroic performance by cricket, the petanque section won the match 10:8.

Prizes were awarded for the best pair from each team, which were Dave & Jackie from Petanque and Rory & Adam from Cricket. Then most participant retired for a very sociable Ploughman’s Lunch in the clubhouse, kindly paid for by Cricket. (Thank you Maori)

This was another brilliant example of bringing members of different sections together for a competitive and fun event! Much enjoyed by all and now an annual event. As well as that …. cricket & petanque are now “best friends”!!
